Young people do not spend their holiday and weekend doing outdoor activities like hiking and climbing in natural environment. Why? And how to encourage them to go out?

There has been a drastic shift in how youth has been spending their spare time. Today, youth is not inclined to involve in strenuous physical and adventurous outdoor activities and connect with nature. This essay aims to discuss the reasons behind this bothering trend, and it tries to offer a few suggestions to tackle this.

Today, young people like to stay indoors and spend their leisure time within the four walls of their houses or school. First, the world is far more competitive today than before, and many do not have much spare time due to the burden of studies or work. It is natural that they do not have sufficient energy to do adventure pursuits or rigorous physical activities; thus, they like spending their vacations and weekends resting at home. Secondly, most young individuals devote their spare time to watching television, browsing social media, or playing computer games. These hobbies make youngsters lethargic and cause many health issues.

However, slight willingness from parents and some small initiatives by the schools can help improve this situation and drive the youngsters toward pursuing more adventure activities. Parents must ensure that their children spend some time outdoors and pursue arduous physical activities. Also, schools and colleges must organize adventure camps where students may know about and follow activities like climbing, hiking, and other adventure activities. If such practices are inculcated at a young age, they can become a part of one’s lifestyle forever.

To sum up, indeed, strenuous physical activities and adventure pursuits are not opted for by young people much. Ample reasons and solutions have been provided.
