Massive progress of technology has contributed exceptionally to all aspects of life: social, personal and political, etc. However, it has been frequently believed that this development has a shady side to it. I agree with this statement and justify my point of view in the following paragraphs.
Technology has made our lives easier and more comfortable. Access to various services has become faster and
more convenient. However, all these benefits have not been attained without severe disservice to our lives.
First, due to the effortless availability of so many services at a click of a finger, many of us have become lethargic. Earlier, people would go out to purchase items or pay their bills, while now we sit at home and finish all such tasks with the help of gadgets. Moreover, excessive dependence on machines for all our work has been detrimental to us. Many of us become crippled when and can not work if we do not have temporary access to the machines at homes or offices.
The advent of social media has acted as fuel in the fire. Advent and widespread use of social media have curtailed social activities people used to have. Many have thousands of friends on the internet, while none in their real life.
Many inventions have proved either a boon or a curse if there is a change in how it is brought to use. For example, nuclear energy can fulfill the ever-rising need for power; however, if used in bombs, it can destroy the world.
Thus, finally, it is true that technology is neither good nor bad. Every time science is used for the benefit of humanity, some side effect starts surfacing.
