Students today get information online, so libraries will close in the future. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Libraries used to be thronged by students and learners a few years ago; however, the scenario has changed, and most students have started preferring online media as sources of information rather than going to libraries. Thus, it is believed that libraries will not exist in the future. I concur with this thought.

First, there has been a revolutionary change to how data and information have been shared, lately. A not long time ago, people would refer to newspapers and magazines. Now, most, especially young and middle-aged people, prefer referring to online content, for it is not just convenient but magnificently faster. There is a rich amount of data online from multiple authors that can be sorted in fractions of seconds; also, with the further advent of artificial intelligence and machine, there would be further snowballing in digital content consumption. Digital content is portable and easy to manage. Also, online data does not need much saving space, is ultra-portable, and can be taken along when one travels. However, books in a library need more physical space, wear out over time, are hard to carry, and may be cumbersome. Furthermore, the issue of the unavailability of a book is not encountered when we study the information online. Moreover, we can make and distribute as many replicas of a soft copy as we want. Another significant benefit is that one can watch videos, and this facility has numerous benefits.

Though some might argue that libraries have an old-world charm, and some will not be able to move on from their love of them. Either the number of these people is going to be negligible, for the young people are going to be more comfortable with technology, unlike aged people today who find it difficult to switch to digital media a bit challenging at times.

Finally, the ease and numerous facilities that digital reading media provides have made online content consumption more popular, and the trend indicates that this will be even more widespread.
