Some think that people are naturally born good leaders while others feel leadership skills can be learned. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Some believe that good leadership skill is a born characteristic, while others assert that these skills can be acquired over time. I shall discuss both sides of the argument before sharing my point of view. However, I believe that though there are born leaders, leadership skills can be learned and sometimes naturally develop as one gains experience in life.

On the one hand, some strictly believe that good leaders are born leaders. Some individuals are born with great charm and conviction to lead people, and others trust them to lead the crowd. It has been observed that these characteristics are exhibited by some children at a young age which proves that, certainly, these skills are natural.

However, it is not that leadership can not be learned. People learn many skills either naturally through life experiences or consciously learn these. Today, there are many best sellers or courses offered by well-known universities, that can help a person gain a lot of insight into how one can develop leadership. These books and courses have numerous case studies and can help a person gain clarity on the ways a leader is supposed to conduct themselves. Most importantly, one can learn to be persuasive and lead people naturally from life’s experiences or people around them. Life experiences and learnings can also teach sound judgment and handling complicated issues.

I believe that the most powerful and effective leaders are the ones who develop leadership abilities as a result of practical life experiences as they gradually gain experiences in their lives. Leadership is part about dealing with humans and their emotions and part about making decisions with vision, which can be grasped over time from various sources or happenings in life.
