While some think immediate family influences a child more, others regard that aspects such as the influence of various media, companions, and arts have a better effect. This essay aims to discuss both views before concluding. Nonetheless, I believe a family’s impact is more consequential than any other factor.

Nowadays, there is too much exposure to various media, such as television, the internet, and radio. There is no way children being impressionable can not be impacted by these influences. It has been observed that teenagers are more influenced by their friends. On the other hand, television and other media, along with music, are experienced by all. The latest popular music and artists can have a Pied Piper kind of influence on young people and children. Children follow their lifestyle, fashion sense, and mannerisms, sometimes mindlessly. These sources sometimes result in career choices amongst young people.

However, family is the first school of a child, especially parents. In Indian cultures, the mother is considered the first teacher or guru as it is respectfully called in Hindi. A child spends the most time with their family members, especially during the early childhood. It is inevitable.

I believe that upbringing has a more significant impact on a child’s personality, cultural legacy, and manners. Ultimately, the family will be responsible for shaping a child and influencing their values, skills, socialization, and security during these childhood development stages. Though there are always influences other than family and close relatives, they are not believed to be as impactful as influences passed on from the immediate household since the foundation of a person is made by the family.
