Some believe that today people have more mutual dependency, but others think the situation is contradictory. This essay aims at discussing both views and comes up with a conclusion.

There has been far more dependency in certain aspects of life than before. For instance, due to globalization, there is a lot more trade between different parts of the world; as a result, all over the world people are dependent on others. Every supplier wants to expand their business globally, so it is natural to have dependency between companies and individuals.

Another aspect where the dependency has grown is the household chores. Earlier, women used to independently complete household chores. However, with both partners working today and people getting busier, people seek external help and, in most cases, can not function smoothly without such assistance.

However, there are many areas in which interdependency has reduced over a period of time. Today, a gadget can get a lot of our work done. For instance, one can use it to pay bills without standing in long queues, purchase many items ranging from groceries to luxury items, and socialize with the help of social media. Today, people can practically carry on multiple tasks without moving out of their houses and maintaining relationships without meeting anyone. Thus, advancement in technology, especially the internet, has reduced our dependency on various people and sources.

Finally, there have been areas where the dependency has reduced, while some other areas have shown more dependency among people.
