Some people believe that professional athletes serve as positive role models for young people, while others argue that their behavior, both on and off the field, can have negative influences. Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

It is believed by some that sports people have a favorable influence on the youth, whereas others assert that it is the opposite due to their rash conduct every so often in and out of the fields. I shall discuss both views; nonetheless, I side with the previous opinion.

On the one hand, successful sports personnel involved in competitive sports at national and international levels are followed by millions of people, especially young people. Their fame, fortune, zeal, and active lifestyle have a significant impact on youth. In addition, the media attention, sports people’s presence on various print media, and social media following also attract youngsters to them. These sports people inspire the young generation to put in hard work to dream big and put effort into achieving what they desire.

On the other hand, there have been instances when arrogant and offensive behavior by young sports stars has highlighted that they can not be followed, blindly, for they may negatively influence youngsters. There have been cases when soccer players and players of other games would hit players from the competitive team, entirely bypassing sportsmanship. In addition, a few cases of reckless behaviour with media and fans, along with being arrested for drunken driving. Misbehaving with their fans or media is also common. Since young ones are easily influenced, there may be dangers in following those who indulge in reckless behaviour.

I believe there is no correlation between fame and recklessness, for individual personality plays a role. Most successful sportspeople are well-behaved and can inspire youth to struggle to achieve success.
