Family celebrations are special, and some people spend a lot of money on these celebrations. Though some feel it is vital to direct a lot of funds towards these revelries, others assert it is an inappropriate use of money. This essay will try to analyze both points of view and derive a conclusion.
People spend the most funds on celebrating birthdays, weddings, and anniversaries. They probably feel it is a way to honor good occasions and spend time with near and dear ones. Some others feel pressure from their society as there may be a norm to spending money on such events. They may also think that since life is short, we should not hold back from celebrations even if it involves spending plenty of money.
On the other hand, some feel this is a total waste of hard-earned money. First, spending a lot of money on a few hours of eating, partying, and entertaining guests is illogical. Generally, it takes a lot of hard work to earn money, it should be saved for rainy days, or it should be put to some constructive use. For example, the same money could be used to feed many homeless people or education of a person. Also, it is thought that sometimes money is spent to show off one’s status and wealth, which is shallow and worthless. When rich people spend money on such affairs, the ones that can’t afford to disburse such an amount naturally feel the compulsion to host guests when they have celebrations.
I believe celebrating some special events can bring much happiness to our lives, but celebrations can be carried out without spending much money. It is because the money must be spent mindfully, for the same amount can be utilized to do something meaningful like charity.
