Some people believe that children of all ages should have extra responsibilities (for example, helping at home or work). Others believe that, outside of school, children should be free to enjoy their lives.Discuss both views and give your own opinion. Read my essay here. Reported on IELTS December 7th

Different people have diverse opinions on the bringing up of children. Some assert that children must shoulder minor responsibilities at home or school, while others think childhood is for enjoyment and children should be allowed to enjoy themselves after school. I believe youngsters should have ample free time to enjoy, yet they must be taught to carry out little duties. In the following paragraphs, I am going to analyze the contradicting views, followed by presenting my take on the topic.

Children should assume more obligations as it shapes them into wiser and independent individuals. The little ones who can do basic chores from the beginning can manage and easily do bigger jobs later if they shoulder more responsibilities. It is a part of their cognitive development and learning. Such children better understand how to approach a challenge and divide more complex problems into smaller and more manageable ones. Researches show that such children grow up to be more confident adults.

On the other hand, others think that children should be left to enjoy their life as responsibilities can burden them.
Such people probably feel that one has to face challenges and carry on many obligations once a person grows up. So, at least childhood should be free of such obligations. Moreover, a child is tender, and if there are many responsibilities, childhood may be compromised. Also, a lot of free time allows them to be more creative.

Finally, I believe that childhood is certainly for enjoying life and being cheerful, but people should teach their little ones to do some basic activities at home and school so that they may understand how to manage their life.
