Some big companies fund sports people as well as sports events so that they may promote their brands. Though some feel that this trend has its advantages, others feel it is disadvantageous. I shall discuss both sides of the coin in this essay and offer my point of view.
Sports and sports events add a lot of fun to our lives. People across the world wait for major sports events such as the world cups and the Olympics. Sportspeople need money to pay for their training. Preparing for significant sports events can cost dearly and requires much effort. Not just this, a sports person’s career is short-lived, so they need money so that once they retire they do not suffer due to lack of finances. Similarly, sports occurrences require a lot of money, and it may not be possible to conduct sports events if there is no one to finance these events.
Moreover, companies also need such events to promote their products and services. Famous sports people are followed by a multitude of people, so it is natural for companies to utilize their fame to promote their brands. Thus, this relationship is mutually beneficial for organizations and those engaged in sports.
On the other hand, some believe that the involvement of this much money in sports events is detrimental to sportsmanship, for money is believed to pollute any concept it starts influencing. First, due to such large sums directed towards sports and sports events, now youngsters wish to become players as they desire to earn a lot of money and not due to their passion. Secondly, earning becomes a priority for sports people, and they start putting more effort into promoting brands.
