There has been a monumental shift in how youngsters spend their time. Today, youngsters are more tech-savvy than before and spend substantial time on smartphones. The following paragraphs discuss the causes behind this trend and subsequently analyze if this shift is advantageous or disadvantageous.
A deeper look into the above-mentioned change suggests excessive use of gadgets by children is a reflection of the changes our society has gone through. First, in many households today, both parents work and wish to stay connected with their children. Secondly, with the inception of covid, the schools were compelled to run in an online mode. That is when many parents that had never thought of providing gadgets to their children had to bring cellular phones and tabs for their young ones. Since then, many children have become comfortable and subsequently addicted to smartphones, which they use for multiple activities.
I believe this consequence has benefits and drawbacks both. Technical knowledge is essential to progress in life, so familiarity with an inclination toward gadgets can help people. However, excessive use at a young age can harm in more than one way. First, too much exposure to a smartphone is hazardous for physical and mental health, for it can hurt the eyes and cause anxiety issues in children. Second, a massive amount of unstructured open for all content on the internet can misguide a child. Little ones can not differentiate between good, bad, and ugly content. Not just this, obscenity on the internet can adversely affect a child’s delicate mentality. Consequently, a child’s studies suffer.
Indeed, technology has become part of almost all aspects of our lives. One of the latest impacts of it is too much use of cellular phones by children. Finally, in my opinion, there are far more severely harmful impacts of staying glued to cell phones than advantages.
