Shopping habits depend more on your age group than anything else. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is believed age is the most significant factor that impacts one’s shopping practices. I do not concur with this statement, for there are many other factors influencing shopping habits amongst people. I shall explain the basis of my point of view in the following paragraphs.

Shopping habits depend on one’s age, for young like to purchase what is in fashion and indulge in shopping sprees. They can also be impulsive buyers and have been influenced by a compelling commercial, for young minds are generally impressionable. On the other hand, older people are not easily swayed by advertisements and use their knowledge and experience to purchase high-quality items they need.

However, age is just one of the factors impacting what one purchase. First, shopping habits are chiefly decided by one’s economic situation. It is a known fact that wealthy people can spend on costlier items, for they need not worry much about the price, so they purchase and can indulge in shopping frequently. However, generally, the impoverished ones have to sacrifice many of their wishes and can not splurge on costly items. As a result, they have to be satisfied with what they truly need.

Second, personal choice also plays a vital role in how one likes to shop. Some people prefer shopping online, while others visit markets or malls when they have to buy something. Similarly, some prefer to go for planned purchases, while others decide instantly and spend money without much thought or planning.

Thus, it is incorrect to say that shopping habits are decided solely by age because many factors have a significant role to play.
