It has been experienced lately that famous individuals are known for their riches, charm, and outer appearance, while mostly the quality and value of their work are ignored. This development sets a negative example or inspiration for all, especially the young generation. I agree with this statement and intend to discuss it in the following paragraphs.
First, there has been a visible shift towards appreciating looks and material wealth lately due to several changes in the world. It could be due to the rise in social media and the impact of Western culture. Many rich people have titles of millionaire and billionaire permanently associated with their names. For example, most do not celebrate Elon Musk because he has been instrumental in creating impactful and massive organizations but because he is a billionaire. He is addressed as a billionaire or the world’s richest person by newspapers and electronic media with almost all the mentions of his name. Today, everyone wants to be a millionaire or a billionaire to be respected and enjoy the luxuries of life, but not to create something beneficial for the world. It is a shallow approach to life.
Moreover, there is far more following of people living dazzling life, such as sports people, models, and movie actors, than scientists, writers, and social workers. A lesser inclination towards intellectual and literary pursuits causes a diminishing appreciation of intellectual abilities. Humans are considered superior beings since we have highly developed brains with hundreds of years of experience in evolution in our DNA. It must be utilized by youth to build something more impactful. However, an excessive obsession with celebrity life, without understanding their challenges, can lead to a life of low morals and purposelessness. Glamour and wealth should be appreciated, but there should be a balance between all aspects of life.
