Many people use written language in a less formal and more relaxed way than in the past. Why is this the case? Does this development have more advantages or disadvantages?

The earlier written language used to be strictly formal, and people would follow the grammatical rules and other norms. It has been observed that the writing styles have shown some changes lately, with people abiding by grammatical rules at their convenience. This essay aims to analyze the causes behind this change in attitude and whether it is a positive or a negative trend.

First, today most people are constantly in a hurry and have a bit of an air of casualness. It is especially true for youngsters. It has also been observed that people today like to focus on the main point without spending time on details that may be considered unnecessary by them to save their precious time and energy. This view has boosted the use of relaxed and casual lingo for formal communication, which has further encouraged its use as many people have slowly started accepting such communication.

On the one hand, this may have some drawbacks. First, some believe that there may be chances of becoming too casual in interactions which may be unacceptable, or there may be chances of offending someone. This language may be considered disrespectful, especially in front of bosses, seniors, or aged people. On the other hand, using informal communication has been seen as beneficial in certain situations. For example, causal language can help break the ice in certain conditions faster. It also helps people get rid of the fear of making mistakes while speaking or writing or the fear of being judged.

I believe it is advantageous to use formal language in some places, but it can put one in a regretful situation, so it must be avoided in a formal setting. Thus, its use has more disadvantages than advantages.
