In most nations, renowned educational institutes and advanced medical treatments are available only in urban areas. Thus, it is often believed that fresh teachers and medical practitioners must serve the rural areas of their nations, while others feel they must be allowed to choose for themselves. In my opinion, teachers and doctors must work in rural areas at the beginning of their careers. I shall explain the basis of my point of view in the following paragraphs.
First, most nations have the majority of their population in their countryside. A nation can not progress if the majority of its population stays behind, and the development of a country is everyone’s responsibility. Secondly, governments invest the best resources in educating students so they may become teachers and doctors. Thus, it is their duty to invest some of their time and energy in serving those deprived of quality aid.
Moreover, when doctors and teachers travel to villages and come face-to-face with the harsh realities when they see lifestyles they were oblivious to, they gain wisdom. This wisdom helps them in their future. For example, when a teacher gets an opportunity to teach rural children and lives in a rural area, the spectrum of knowledge and perspicuity expands. This knowledge can help a teacher teach their students better. A similar situation can be quoted for doctors. An understanding and appreciation of the life people live in the rural side can make a doctor more compassionate and empathetic, qualities a good doctor must have.
To sum up, doctors and teachers must mandatorily offer their services in the rural parts of their nation when they pass out of their college. As explained above, these will benefit the people in country areas and the professionals alike.
