It is often believed that taking chances in one’s personal life and career is vital. I shall analyze the merits and demerits of taking risks in various aspects of life before deciding the more proper way to live.
First, risk-taking and constantly trying to move out of your comfort zone are not just essential, but risk-taking can not be avoided for long, for danger is present in almost every aspect of life. Taking chances in personal life is inevitable because if one wishes to build relationships or marry, one has to take chances. Such risks can prove to be blessings or curses. Similarly, if one wishes to achieve great success, one has to take risks, as risk is involved in starting or expanding a business and moving to another land. These are the steps people take to make big in life. There are ample examples of people taking risks by leaving their high-paying jobs, spending their savings to start businesses, and building massive conglomerates. These empires could not be built if these people had not taken chances.
However, a risk is a risk, and it may impact a person adversely. Especially in the case of uncalculated and mindless stakes, one might have to suffer losses in personal and professional life. Though if sometimes calculated risks may lead to ample chance of failures and disappointments. There is no shortage of people who took significant risks to improve their lives but ended up impoverished. Thus, some people feel one must traverse in a safe zone and avoid risks.
I believe that risk-taking is essential for growth in life, and one can not just keep playing safe if one wishes to progress substantially. However, one can not go for too many crapshoots, for sometimes irreversible damage may happen. Living in safe zone may not lead growth but life can be peaceful. Thus, both have their advantages and disadvantages.
