There has been a rising inclination towards teaching little ones at home rather than sending them to school. There are many reasons behind this progress, and like most other situations, it has merits and demerits. This essay intends to analyse the advantages and disadvantages of parents wanting to have their wards taught at home.
There are a few merits of parents wanting to have their wards taught at home. First, with the rise in crime against children, even at schools, parents probably have felt a safer option is to not send children to school. There have been a few instances of firings at schools in the USA, the killing of a primary school student in Delhi, and suicide by multiple students in many nations. Secondly, if children are at home, they are more likely to be supervised properly, as the parents can keep an eye on their children.
However, not attending school can have many drawbacks for the children, their parents, and society. First, some happiness from childhood is taken away as children do not get to meet their best friends daily. As a result, social skills, such as negotiation skills, the ability to work with others, and dispute handling may take a beating. We all know that our school friends are the most special, and the friendships struck during school time are the most lasting. If the little ones do not attend school, they may be deprived of this privilege. Secondly, schools offer many extracurricular activities such as sports, gymnastics, arts and crafts, etc. one can indulge in many activities. Not only do these help develop a child’s personality, but the child may opt for one of these as their career.
To sum up, I believe going to school has many advantages over not going to school, for a school may have a significant positive impact on a child and can play a major role in a child’s development, in addition to being a fun place. Thus, study at home is not a considerable positive trend.
