The connection between individual accomplishment and socio-economic uniformity has gathered much attention lately. While some think that personal accomplishments can be achieved more smoothly in societies that encourage equal rights for all, others think those societies that foster individual triumphs encourage higher success rates in individuals. This essay aims to discuss both sides of the argument before offering a conclusion.
The difference in the socioeconomic levels of various classes of a society has always been considered a significant obstacle in the progress of that society. Equality in the distribution of resources and outcomes of actions taken by governments and individuals encourage the equal distribution and development of all. On the plus side, such a vision encourages selflessness and is considered to promote a mindset of sharing and caring.
On the other hand, the systems that allow people to use their merit for their benefit sometimes encourage selfishness. However, when people work for their sole achievements, they tend to be more devoted, for such a societal arrangement distributes its resources based on merit and hard work.
However, in egalitarian societies, sometimes everyone enjoys while a few people work. It leads to some people becoming lethargic and dependent on systems and others. The ones who keep working feel robbed of their hard work and ultimately develop resentment toward the system leading to various social issues.
I believe the second option is better, for it encourages everyone to work hard. When what rightfully belongs to one person, is given to another person in the name of equality, it leads to many social issues.
