A sportsperson has to be good and robust in many areas. While some believe that physical strength is more important others believe that mental strength can help a sportsperson excel even if they are not too physically fit. This essay aims at discussing both these views before concluding.
Sports is generally a physical activity. It, therefore, goes without saying that sports need a person to be physically extremely fit, especially sports competitions at state, national, and international levels. Some sports, such as football, rugby, and many others, require a lot of physical stamina and wellness, for in the absence of physical solidity, a sportsman can not compete and sustain their career for long. This is why, professional sports people follow strict physical workout regimes and diet charts. It has been observed that many sports people had to cut their careers short because of injury or physical ailments.
A successful professional sportsperson has to be mentally fit too, for a sportsperson has to bear a lot of stress and anxiety. One has to compete with the best in their area, and face the tension due to fluctuations in performance, and expectations from their native community or state or countrymen. Many times, a person has to gather their loss and have to be on their toes.
A weak-willed person may not perform under this pressure and may give up.
I believe that mental prowess is necessary for athletes to achieve the best results possible when it comes to sports. In these moments, athletes must have the drive and motivation to push through challenging and pressure-filled moments and continue to success.
