In a considerable number of nations, children leave their parental homes once they are in their early twenties; however, others live with their parents for longer. This essay aims to analyze the advantages of which of the two prevails over the others. I believe staying with family for longer can benefit one and all for most of us.
On the one hand, moving out of one’s family home may help one become more independent and wiser as one must tackle life issues on their own. Some may prefer moving out as they are solitude lovers or wish to move away from their abusive or dysfunctional families. These factors can add much positivity to their life.
On the other hand, in most cases, this can be seen as a negative trend due to the challenges one faces when one starts living separately. First, one may not be mentally, emotionally, or financially able to look after oneself in their early twenties. Additional challenges one might experience are a lack of support, issues managing the home, or loneliness. In truth, sometimes some of us need help from others, yet we do not even realize it; this situation may be dangerous as one may not pursue or desire aid until a crisis arises.
I believe independence or autonomy may appear golden for some time but may lead to loneliness or facing numerous other challenges, as described above. In addition, family support and proximity are too precious to lose at a young age, such as in the initial years of one’s twenties, for one may not be mature or prepared enough to handle complicated or unexpected challenges that life keeps throwing at a person.
