Fossil fuel, such as coal, oil, and natural gas, is extensively used in many countries which causes harm to the environment. The use of alternative sources of energy, including wind and solar power, however, is being encouraged in many countries. Is this a positive or negative development?

Fossil fuels have been the chief sources of energy in most parts of the world. However, lately, there has been a change in this inclination in some nations, and they have started using renewable sources more. I believe these energy sources are better than fossil fuels, so their use is a positive development.

First, there is a limited supply of fossil fuels. Hundreds of years of natural chemical processes manufacture these fossil fuels deep into the Earth. We must pass on the resources we get to our future generations without much tempering, so we must use these resources judiciously. Not just this, the process of extracting many fossil fuels, such as coal, petrol, and natural gas, is tedious. Also, burning fossil fuels generates much pollution, and rising pollution is already a concern the world has been facing. These factors make fossil fuels a shoddy option.

On the other hand, solar and wind energies can generate power. The world has not been able to harness these resources fully, while these are available in abundance in many parts of the world. These resources are considered clean resources, for they do not cause much contamination to the environment. A lot of their utilization requires simple methods. Most importantly, there is a limitless supply of these resources, and they are reusable, so even if we continue to use these, they will not finish. Thus, alternative sources of energy must be preferred.

Finally, with an uprise in the need for energy sources, we must look for cleaner and renewable alternative fuels.
