Everybody should donate a fixed amount of their income to support charity. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is often believed that a designated amount from one’s earnings must be directed towards charity regularly. I completely agree with this view, for it has benefits not just for individuals and families but also for communities. It can be a cornerstone for encouraging harmony and cooperation in a society.

First, the purpose of life is not only to selfishly progress and gather material possessions for oneself but to contribute to the betterment of society and others. Ultimately, humans have been social animals, and one must give back to humanity if one has been more fortunate concerning material amassments leading to more harmony and cooperation in society, which helps everyone grow, laying the foundation of a well-grounded society.

In addition to many practical benefits, this inclination has an all-around positive impact on society. For example, when children observe that their elders share a part of their earnings with needy people, it helps them learn how their actions can help make this world a better place for everyone; this additionally helps instil positive human core values like compassion, sharing and helpfulness in children and one feels good about themselves. These values make them a cooperative member of a family system, community and nation. However, money should be directed judiciously towards those who need it, and a sensible use of the same should be ensured.

To sum up, contributing a portion of one’s earnings is advantageous for individuals and communities on small and large levels. Therefore, it should be adopted by those who can afford to do this.
