The medical field has seen marked headway in the last few decades. However, there has not been much reduction in the number of deaths caused due to simple illnesses. This essay aims to analyze the reasons behind this bothering revelation and sum up a few actions that can be taken to confound this situation.
Though the medical sector has developed in leaps and bounds, this development has not been uniform, for the advantage of this progress has been majorly harnessed by the developed and rich countries. Developing, underdeveloped and impoverished countries do not have ample means to harness this development. This problem magnifies for those living in remote areas, for neither, do the facilities reach them in time nor do they have the means to travel to developed areas in time when they are faced with some medical emergency. As a result, the number of deaths is still high even if, sometimes, treatments are known. Another reason could be a lack of awareness amongst citizens.
There are certainly ways to overcome this disturbing problem. Governments must ensure that rural and remote areas get the advantage of any progress in the medical field as much as that is available to urban sectors. Authorities must also ensure that ample awareness is spread among the masses so that a shortage of information or awareness does not result in deaths. In addition, more doctors and other medical practitioners must be encouraged to practice for a stipulated duration in underdeveloped areas.
To sum up, indeed, we have not been able to stop deaths due to the simplest and treatable diseases. However, this situation can improve if authorities are ready to understand the causes behind it and are determined to take action.
