Central and local governments make a frantic attempt to promote festivals to create a lot of revenue. Some people think this money should be invested in social programs for the poor.

It is often believed that hurried attempts to observe various festivals and events by the local and central governments are not the right way to utilize finances in a state. Instead, the same money could be spent on the well-being of impoverished people. I believe that disbursing money for festivities is sensible as it boosts the economy and cultural exchange. The following paragraphs justify my viewpoint.

First, the festival celebrations attract people within and out of a state. These festivals allow local authorities and local people to earn some extra revenue. In addition, such events give ample prospects of employment to the local people. Elaborating on the same, any prominent and big event requires a variety of services, thus giving work to various service providers. Additionally, artists, service providers, and product manufacturers can exhibit their talent, services, and products in front of people from different regions, thus expanding their customer base. Consequently, such platforms boost the economy and benefit citizens and governments alike.

Not only do these festivities boost the economy, but they can be of cultural significance. These celebrations become centers for cultural exchange between people from different parts and passing on traditional and cultural heritage to the next generations. In fact, governments should encourage the participation of youngsters so that they may learn about their culture.

Finally, no doubt, social welfare programs for the poor segment of the population need funds. However, the significance and impact of cultural celebrations on economic, social, and cultural aspects of society are undeniable, so spending some quick money on the same is justified and a welcome step.
