There has been a significant movement from rural regions to urban ones lately due to better job opportunities and lifestyles in urban areas. It has resulted in a drop in the population from the source areas. I believe though people have been migrating to cities in search of a better life, this trend has been primarily disadvantageous, whose reasons will be discussed in the following paragraphs.
A massive movement, especially those of young people, to urban areas has given rise to many challenges in rural regions. There has been a decline in the working population in rural areas. When people move out of their villages, there is even lesser focus on the development of rural areas leading to a widened gap between the lifestyle of urban and rural life. Moreover, farming and cattle rearing are the key professions for people in rural areas. When the population moves to cities, there is a drop in people involved in farming; sometimes, farmers sell their land to industrialists. These factors can cause massive harm.
In addition, there are negative consequences for people in cities. Due to people moving to urban areas, most cities are overcrowded and polluted. Peace of mind may be compromised when one shifts to a city due to the fast pace nature of life and overworking. The cost of living can be too high as the cost of education, property, and other facilities can be too high.
Finally, it can be said that such migrations are good in the short term but adverse in the long one. Though city life is glamorous and one can enjoy many facilities, the excessive movement has been causing many challenges for rural and urban dwellers.
