It is believed and often said that the future is vital and extremely valuable, so one should focus on improving it. I believe one must plan for the future; however, one must also ensure that life is lived to the fullest in the present. I shall discuss my point of view in the following paragraphs.
First, one must think about the future and work hard to improve it. We take many measures to ensure our future is abundant and peaceful, so most of us do not back out from struggling in the present for a golden tomorrow. People provide the best education to their children, so they may become capable of thriving in the future. Also, people save money, so they do not have to suffer due to a lack of funds in their future. People take care of their health, for they do not wish to be grappled by diseases once they are old.
However, many waste their time and energy worrying about their future: this is considered futile by many because of two reasons. First, since the future is neither predictable nor controllable, there is no point in unnecessarily worrying about it. Second, too much focus and concern for the future can squeeze out the peace and fun from one’s current life. However, mindless indulgence in the present can cause a person to suffer in the future.
I believe it is advisable to plan for the future, for time moves fast, and we land in the future within no time. Thus, it is meaningless to enjoy and live a lavish present and suffer later in life. However, too much anxiety about the future and putting in an excessive effort by spoiling the current time is also not advisable. Consequently, one must try to adopt a balanced approach and devote equal focus to both: today and tomorrow.
