It is believed that a strong, long-lasting, and healthy relationship is based chiefly on honesty and truth. I agree with this statement to a large extent and shall discuss the same in detail.

Relations can be challenging and require management from all the parties involved. Associations have some said and unsaid rules. One of the most important rules is to be truthful and sincere. Always telling the truth can clear one’s conscience and help win others’ trust, which can help grow the relationship because telling lies can help in the short term but may adversely affect a relationship later. It is often said that one can not hide the truth for long, and if a partner, relative, or friend comes to know the reality later from some other source, they may be deeply hurt or gives rise to conflict, which is damaging to a relationship. Truth and honesty have always been considered the basis for a relationship. In fact, telling lies in close relationships is seen as a betrayal. When a person hides something, especially something that could be vital or threatening to the partner or the relationship, it is also equated to lying or dishonesty.

However, sometimes one has to speak small lies, called white lies ensure everyone’s happiness. These lies are harmless, and most of us resort to them occasionally. These can be ignored, for intentions are paramount.

Also, other factors like care, give and take, and financial abundance is valued in relationships, but if connections have dishonesty or falsehood, one can not expect true happiness from these connections. A life of pretensions and betrayal is not a good life, for one lives a life of falsehood or bitterness.
